During the off-season, it's very important to work on deeper aspects of the game. Skating, shooting, stick handling, passing, game awareness strategy... If we look at players at the highest levels, that's what they are doing: Training. Working on the small stuff. It's the small stuff that brings on the bigger gains. That's where skill development camps come in. The difference between a Kellian Hockey Skill Development camp and the others, as the skills are presented to the players, the progression is tailored to the needs of the players. If there is a wider range of skill, the players will have level specific challenges that will satisfy and push each player to wherever they are. Further, Ian is particularly adept with his knowledge of the skills and how to break down the various parts involved and where a player might be struggling and how they can fix it. Elite players are great to work with because of how quickly they can pick up new skill and how they can adapt it into their style of play. The Kellian Hockey April Skills week will consist of a 5-day, 2 hour-skate each day, action packed week. April 19-23 from 10-12pm (Session 1), 1-3pm (Session 2) all at Pilgrim Ice Arena in Hingham, MA. The April skills week curriculum will have an Advanced skating component: -Linear crossovers (skating full speed, North-South down the ice while crossing over) -The Jam Turn -The Punch Jam and If possible: -The Mohawk (as a puck protection technique and as a fake) We will also work on shooting component: -Slapshots, One-timers and knee-down one-timers -Inside leg Snap Shots (Shooting in stride) -Toe-drag shot (changing the angle) -Extend Shot (changing the angle) If possible: -Two Touch Shooting We have a heavy Stickhandling component. Several types of moves (That deflect a player left or right)... how they cause a reaction from the defender, and how to combine them with other moves. -Wide Leg Heel Turn -Push/Tap Heel turn -Head Fakes -Snap Overs -The Ovechkin -The Gretzky -The Side Fake -Combinations of the above If possible: -The Datsyuk -Z drift If Covid restrictions permit, I will also get into a Body Checking unit during the last few days of the week. We are planning on 2 sessions. Each session goes for 5 days, with 2hours/day on the ice. Session 1 would go 10:00am - 12:00pm, and Session 2 would go from 1:00pm - 3:00pm. We will let you know which session your child is in. We will do our best to have kids grouped with friends.
