The Dangle Session '13 -'14
At Waterbury's Ice Center Arena
What: 2 team Session. During this session, we are going focusing exclusively on stickhandling. Protection moves, defensive escapes and of course... some old-fashioned offensive, 1 vs 1 dangling. We are not just going to learn about moves, we are going to understand about why particular moves are used and when, what to look for in your opponent, and drills you can do on your own so that you can improve at your pace. On top of the on-ice intruction, there will be an online component so that each player can, at their own pace, dissect the moves at their computer.
Each session include a :05 minute warm up, :20 minutes of
stickhandling techniques, strategies and drills, then :50 minutes of refereed scrimmage incorporating what you just learned. Full gear and helmets with face mask or half shield required.
Who: 2 teams of ADULT intermediate level skaters wanting to hone the skills of the game!
Coach: Ian Smith will be coaching each session. A two time captain at Middlebury college and ex-professional in the Calgary Flames farm system, Ian has been coaching these clinics for over 11 years with great success.
Email: Please send us an email so you can get on the email-list. This allows me to send you a quick video of what we are going to work on. So, Wednesday night, or during the day on Thursday, you will be able to watch a "work-friendly", 2 minute clip of the focus of our skate. That way, you can ask questions and have a visual of what I am talking about as we learn about it. This addition alone to the Evolution skate session has made a huge difference in the efficiency of how we learn, and understand these news skills and tactics.
Times and Dates: Sunday evenings...
Sundays from 5:15- 6:30 pm on the ice from Dec 15th through most of February for 8 weeks.
